Aquis Staff's Annual Party - Crete - October 2010

Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011
The Special Olympics is a nonprofit organization founded officially in 1968, giving form to the vision of the founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver (1921 - 2009), sister of President of the USA John F. Kennedy. A vision which was born in June 1962 at a summer camp at Eunice's home, which invited children and adults with intellectual disabilities in order to detect their capabilities in different sports.
The program "Host Town" which will be held from 20 to 24 June 2011, is an integral part of the Special Olympics World Games ATHENS 2011 athletes who will come to Greece, while for the Greek citizens it is an opportunity to learn more about the unique skills and capabilities of people with intellectual disabilities.
Before the official opening of the Games in Athens, all International Delegates will be accommodated for four days in all 13 administrative regions of Greece. Through a series of sporting, cultural and artistic events, the Special Olympic athletes, from more than 185 countries, will have the unique opportunity to spend time in towns and islands of Greece, to adapt to a new environment, to learn the manners and customs of each region and to practice in their sports before the games.
In terms of the Host Town Program - Polis Amphitrion, Aquis will offer free accommodation to 100 - 300 athletes at the Aquis Sandy Beach Resort in Corfu. For this reason, on Tuesday the 14th of September, the Aquis Sandy Beach Resort was rewarded with the "Apollon" award on the presence of Mrs. Gianna Despotopoulou, President GOC Special Olympics World Summer Games ATHENS 2011, the ambassadors of Austria, Germany and Italy, all the authorities of Corfu and the District Commissioner of Corfu. The ceremony took place in The Palace of Saint Michael & George in Corfu town and the award was received by Mr. Anastasios Mexas, Hotel Manager of the Aquis Sandy Beach Resort.

A Living Legend
Aquis Miramare Wonderland has always been a legend ever since the day it first opened, in the early 60's, whereas all high profile personalities have offered themselves, at least once in the life, the unique experience of visiting the specific hotel.

Wonderful news!!
Aquis Agios Gordios Beach Hotel, apart from being located on a picture-perfect hill spot whereas green mountains rise on the top, it is distinguished as well by the long sandy beach with the crystal water.
A recent unexpected visitor of our property (seaweed) has now "found its way back home" and the wonderful Agios Gordios beach is again as clear as it had always been prior to this undesirable phenomenon!!

The famous August fullmoon gave the chance for ...party at the Aquis Sandy Beach Resort. Food, wine, loud music and mainly good temper created a unique scenery that will be unforgettable for our valuable guests. Parents and children became a big company dancing on the wonderful beach of the hotel and laughing with games. Very important was the role of the hotel's animation team who leaded the party!!
